Service Description

Canadian Red Cross Standard Child Care First Aid provides comprehensive, hands-on training for managing medical emergencies involving infants and children, while still covering the core first aid skills adults may need in everyday situations. You’ll learn how to recognise illness and injury early, make clear decisions under pressure, and respond confidently at home, in the community, or in childcare settings. This 16-hour course includes CPR-C with AED, equipping you to provide CPR for adults, children, and babies. EEFA does not offer limited CPR streams (CPR-A or CPR-B), because real emergencies involve people of all ages. Children and adults share the same spaces, and we want every learner to leave feeling prepared to help—no matter who needs care. SCCFA meets provincial and territorial requirements for early-learning and childcare roles and is accepted by most employers who work directly with children. Designed for both licensed childcare environments and general home and community use, this course is ideal for families, caregivers, educators, school staff, recreation leaders, camp workers, youth program volunteers, and anyone looking to expand their skill set or strengthen their résumé with a nationally recognised paediatric first aid credential. Note: Standard Child Care First Aid is not an accepted substitute in workplaces where Standard First Aid (OFA Level 2 equivalency) is a specific OH&S requirement. If you are unsure whether this course meets your employer’s needs, please confirm with your current or potential employer before booking.
