Mental Health First Aid
Building confidence to support mental health.

Compassionate conversations start with confidence.
Emergency Edge First Aid (EEFA) provides Mental Health First Aid training designed to help people recognize signs of declining mental health, start supportive conversations, and respond with confidence when someone may be struggling. Delivered through the Canadian Red Cross, these courses develop practical skills that help participants provide initial support while understanding the importance of appropriate boundaries and professional care.
Our training is practical, interactive, and discussion-based, focusing on real-life situations rather than lectures alone. Using the Canadian Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live approach, participants learn to recognize common mental health challenges, respond to crisis situations, encourage appropriate professional support, and practise self-care strategies that help them support others without neglecting their own wellbeing. Mental Health First Aid is not intended to replace healthcare professionals, but to equip everyday people with the confidence to offer initial support until appropriate help is available.
EEFA operates using a mobile training model, delivering public courses in community venues and private training for workplaces and organizations throughout the Okanagan, Kootenays, and surrounding regions. By bringing Mental Health First Aid closer to where people live and work, we help build safer, more supportive communities where people feel better prepared to recognize, respond, and care—for others and for themselves.
